NEW WORKS By ELEANOR McCOMB | Showing from Friday, 14th March 2025, Online Exhibition
Eleanor McComb is an exciting addition to our gallery and next generation of female artists. Hailing from New Zealand and now based in Australia, she masterfully utilizes a variety of mediums, including oil paint and colored pencils. Through her art, Eleanor beautifully captures her deep appreciation for the natural world, while exploring her personal journeys through culture, myth, and symbolism. Join us in celebrating her inspiring work and unique perspective!
Best known for her symbolic paintings of women, Eleanor is inspired by the work of medieval artists in illuminated manuscripts, and the stories of the world. Spending much of her early career focused on children’s art and illustrations, she believes that art is interactive and conversational. She’s taught art as a therapeutic process and developed classes to help students utilize the healing power of art making. This has become a key part of her own art making practice, which she shares online.
Eleanor is a self-taught artist, trained in environmental biology, and much of her larger works are a love letter to nature, in oil paint. A self-proclaimed autodidact, she spends a lot of time studying history, language, and culture; inevitably all those influences find their way into her work.
Eleanor is currently based in Gadigal country (Sydney) where she lives with her husband, their three sons, huge dog, and escape artist cat.
Proudly represented by McCarthy Gallery in Australia.
